Immersion ELA/Social Studies

It is always exciting to begin a new school year at MES! I began my teaching career teaching second grade in Jacksonville, Florida. After moving to Lexington in 2002, I took a teaching position at LMES. I have been a part of the Midway family since 2014. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Florida. My teaching experience includes teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades and gifted/academically talented. I am thrilled to now be teaching French Immersion and hope to make it the best year yet!

Hello!  My name is Kendra Kunze and this is my third year at Midway! My family and I moved to South Carolina two summers ago and we have enjoyed making it our new home!  Leading up to this, I lived in Colorado, where I received my B.S. in Elementary Education, and my M.Ed. in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education, and taught 2^nd and 3^rd grade for 5 ½ years.  I also taught for one year in Tampa, Florida.  In my free time, I love reading, playing games, watching sports, and crafting.  On weekends you can find me enjoying family time at the lake, the beach, sightseeing, or watching my daughter, Tommie, play softball!

I am so excited about teaching 2nd grade at Midway! It's hard to believe that this will be my 19th year of teaching. I graduated from the University of South Carolina and love the Gamecocks. I have three boys, Jacob, Jordan, and Bruce, who are always on the go. As a family, we enjoy reading, spending time at the beach or lake, and being with family and friends. I look forward to a fabulous year with some amazing Mustang families!

Hi Mustangs!! I joined the Midway Family in 2019 and I am excited about another great year! This is my 13th year teaching! I attended USC and graduated with my B.A. in Early Childhood Education. I received my Master’s degree in Education in Language, Literacy, and Culture from Coastal Carolina. My husband and I have been married for 12 years. We are the proud parents of our 9-year-old daughter, Harper, and 5-year-old twin boys, Jackson and Colton. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am so excited about a great year of learning and building relationships with my students at Midway!

Immersion Math/Science

Bonjour Mustang! I have been working at Midway Elementary since 2004. I first worked as a kindergarten assistant in a regular class, then in the French Immersion class. I completed my teaching certification through the PACE program and have been the 2nd grade French Immersion teacher since 2012. I am originally from France but I have been living in Lexington for many years now. I have two grown up children, Izlen and Celine. In my spare time I like to read and cook. My family and I also enjoy traveling. We have spent many summers abroad visiting family, discovering different regions of France and other European countries. I am looking forward to a great year!

Hi! I am Molly Pope and this will be my eighth  year teaching and fourth year at Midway! I attended Winthrop University and graduated with a BA in Early Childhood Education. I am dual certified in Elementary Education. I also taught for two months in China, teaching English to third and fifth grade students. My husband also teaches in Lexington One at Lexington High School and coaches basketball. In my free time, I love spending time with my energetic boys Ford (3) and Rett (almost 2), going to the beach, and eating Chick-Fil-A! I am so excited about a fun year full of laughing, learning, and making lasting relationships with my kiddos at Midway. Go Mustangs!

Hello! I am excited to be back as part of the Midway family! This will be my twelfth year teaching and fifth year at Midway. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing the growth students make from the beginning of the year to the end. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina. In my free time, I enjoy spending time traveling with my husband and our children. 

I am so excited to join the Midway family this year! I have spent the past 9 years teaching in another district and am looking forward to beginning my 10th year. I graduated from the University of South Carolina and am a huge fan of the Gamecocks. I have 2 daughters, Charlotte and Caroline. I enjoy spending time with family, being outdoors, and keeping active. I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
