Lexington One’s Politically Active Parents and Employees

  • Lexington County School District One’s Governmental Relations Committee works to improve communication with our elected officials by providing effective, two-way communication with elected officials; promoting our schools’ relationships with elected officials; informing others of legislative issues or matters of interest before elected bodies and organizing groups of individuals willing to give input to elected officials.

    REPRESENTATIVE JOB DESCRIPTION

Members of the Governmental Relations Committee generally consist of two representatives per school:

    • One staff member

    • One parent of community member (can be appointed by SIC, PTA, PTO, or selected by principal)

Representatives commit to serving a one-year term and are trained by the Communications Office. Additionally, each member receives a handbook, which can be found below, and is informed of all legislative updates as appropriate.

This is an extremely important committee, and we appreciate the fact that these individuals are giving their time. If you are interested in serving on this committee, contact Kathryn McPhail.
