At Lexington County School District One, we hope to make your child’s school bus experience safe, pleasant and efficient.

Please login into ParentPortal to view your child’s bus number and bus stop locations and times. Click on the "Bus Info" icon on the left side of the screen. 

Remember that these times are approximate. Please make sure your student is ready 15 minutes before their scheduled pick-up time.

If your student will be a bus rider this year, and you do not see any information in these fields, please complete the 2023-2024 Bus Transportation Registration form as soon as possible. From the Bus Information page in Parent Portal, click Forms (located on the left hand side of the page). There you will find a link to the 2023–24 Bus Transportation Registration.

Before the first day, make sure your child knows his or her home address (street name and house number, not bus route number), telephone number and school bus number.

Please help your child understand and obey all school bus rules. These rules appear in your child’s Student Handbook. Here is some of the most important information to keep in mind.

• On the first day of school, your child should wait outside your home for the bus. The bus driver will tell your child where to wait for the bus after that.
• Your child needs to begin riding the bus right away. We need to know exactly how many students will ride each bus as soon as possible. For instance, new students may have moved to your area over the summer. As a result, we may need to adjust bus pick-up times, drop-off times or even the route itself in order to make your child’s ride shorter and more comfortable. We also use this information to justify additional routes or buses.
• Your child’s bus route will stabilize within two weeks. Once this happens, there should be no more than a 10-minute fluctuation in times from day to day.
• After the first 20 school days, state law prohibits the district from operating overloaded school buses. If we need to make some other type of adjustment, however, we will do so after the first two weeks of school and notify you accordingly.

If your child needs to be dropped off somewhere other than your home (a neighbor’s house or day care center for example), you must apply for an exception. You can do this by filling out the Special Request for Space Available Transportation form at your student’s home school. This form must be submitted, signed and approved by a school administrator at your child’s school before the Transportation Office can make any route changes. This process may take three to five days.

We transport students for child care purposes only if we have the space available and only within your child’s attendance area. We will let you know, by the third week of the school year, if we can accommodate your request.

Once school starts, if your child wants to go home one afternoon with another child who rides a different school bus, you need to check with the appropriate official (usually an assistant principal) at your child’s school. Please do not send your child to school with a permission slip giving him/her permission to ride another bus without first checking with that school official.

5-Year-Old Kindergartners

Kindergartners ride the regular elementary route school buses that serve your street. They board/depart those buses at the regular bus stops.

Make sure you submit a request for midday transportation at your child’s school by filling out the New Student (Kindergarten Only) Transportation Request and Information form.

4-Year-Old Kindergartners

It is not unusual for pick-up and drop-off times to fluctuate by five to 10 minutes. Because of this, please wait until your child’s bus is more than 10 minutes late before calling the appropriate Transportation Supervisor.
