8th Grade Social Studies Teacher

This year Debbie begins her 32nd year teaching 8th-graders South Carolina and U.S. History. Her goal is to inspire her students to become lifelong, enthusiastic lovers of history. By asking compelling questions, exploring primary and secondary sources, and sharing engaging stories, she aims to develop independent, informed, fact-finding citizens. Alongside her teaching, Debbie collaborates with a group of students to produce the school’s yearbook, The Manifest. Outside of Lakeside, she enjoys spending time with her husband Kevin and son Seth, going on road trips to explore National Parks, and camping in the Low Country State Parks. A Disney World enthusiast, she also loves country music, reading, and baking.
