Welcome to School Counseling

  • Vision:

The students at Gilbert Elementary School will be critical thinking, caring communicators that collaborate, problem solve, and persevere in order to become safe, healthy, and resilient future citizens.

    Mission:

The mission of the Gilbert Elementary School Counseling Department is to provide a developmentally appropriate and comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, social, emotional, and career awareness needs of ALL learners. We empower our learners to cultivate a caring community through the delivery of purposeful core curriculum, school and community partnerships, data-driven practices, and student-centered activities. By modeling and teaching effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, the school counselors at Gilbert Elementary School pledge to create a safe and encouraging learning environment where students are engaged in designing their futures.

About Me

I was delighted to join the GES counseling staff, as part-time school counselor, for the 21-22 school year with such a warm welcome from staff, students and families. I have 40+ years in education with my career beginning in Lexington County School District One and returning last year to the area. I continue to have a passion for education and supporting our students.

On a personal note, my husband and I enjoy going to the beach, the mountains and just sitting at the lake. We have 2 adult children who are married and the joy of 3 grandchildren. Looking forward to another wonderful year with the Gilbert Elementary Family!
