• Communications Department at workThe Communications Office builds public understanding and support for the mission of Lexington County School District One, its staff, students and schools.

    The Communications team ensures that all staff understands the strategic efforts of the district; communicates the district’s position on issues affecting students, staff, families and schools; advocates for students and public education; and encourages community, school and parent engagement.

    The Communications Office is also responsible for delivering accurate information in a timely manner; maintaining internal and external communications for the district; managing requests for information, including Freedom of Information Act requests; writing and publishing news releases, annual reports, internal and external newsletters, handbooks and other information; and answering the public’s questions.

    The Communications Office coordinates several special events such as the district’s Teacher of the Year celebration, retiree banquet, school board recognitions, dedications, etc.

    As a liaison between the district, the community, the legislature and the media, staff assists in coordinating media coverage and assisting these groups in their search for information about all things Lexington District One.
