Lexington District One hires new Food Service and Nutrition Director

LEXINGTON, S.C. — On August 23, 2022, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Deidre S. Yonce as the district’s new food service and nutrition director. Yonce replaces Sally Nicholson, who retired in August.

With more than 20 years of experience in food service, Yonce is a driven, positive and effective leader who has extensive experience directing and overseeing the daily operations of a public school district’s food service and nutrition program. Yonce currently serves as the director of child nutrition at Newberry County School District.

Yonce began her career in 1999 as a produce buyer/marketing manager for US Foods in Lexington, S.C. In 2006, Yonce joined the Lexington District One family as a food service manager.

In 2012, Yonce was promoted to field supervisor for the district. Yonce moved to Lexington County School District Three in Batesburg-Leesville, S.C., in 2016, to serve as the district’s director of child nutrition. She was promoted to her current position at Newberry County School District in 2021.

Yonce has a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and management from Strayer University. She served as the vice chair for the South Carolina School Food Service Purchasing Alliance and chair of the Professional Development Committee for the South Carolina School Nutrition Association.
