Lexington District One Board of Trustees names Dr. Gerrita Postlewait interim superintendent

Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees unanimously selected Dr. Gerrita Postlewait to serve as the interim superintendent, effective July 1, 2022. Dr. Postlewait replaces Dr. Gregory Little who accepted a role with the South Carolina Technical College System and is resigning at the end of June.

With more than 22 years of experience, Dr. Postlewait most recently served as superintendent of the Charleston County School District for six years.

“Dr. Postlewait is an experienced and highly-regarded educational leader with many years of experience,” said Board Chair Anne Marie Green. “We are excited about her serving the Lexington District One community in this time of transition.”

She previously served as superintendent of Horry County Schools for ten years, as well as Wetzel County Schools in West Virginia for six years.

Prior to that, Dr. Postlewait taught and served as a school administrator in multiple states, serving in urban, suburban and rural communities throughout her career. She also spent nine years in educational roles in the private sector.

In her various leadership roles, she worked collaboratively with school and community leaders, as well as families, to solve systematic issues in ways that sustained innovation and improvement. Throughout her career, she focused on supporting the needs of students and educators so all children could flourish and grow as learners and individuals.

Dr. Postlewait will earn a monthly salary of $18,250 while she serves as interim superintendent.

The Board of Trustees continues its superintendent search and hopes to hire the next superintendent by fall 2022.
