Art 3 Honors class had the opportunity to collaborate with the Performing Arts students by painting portraits to use as part of the set design for the CLUE performance. Students not only displayed their paintings and drawings to decorate the stage, but designed personalized paintings of the cast to display at the entrance of the performing arts center. This year, the Advanced Dance students partnered with the Art 3 Honors students as we learned about figure drawing. The dancers selected moderate to complex poses in order for Art 3 students to hone observational drawing skills. In this lesson, students learned how to break down detailed forms using basic shapes, applied cropping and proportion techniques and created a range of values and textures while drawing in charcoal.
