River Bluff High School was named a 2019 Palmetto’s Finest school! 

Each spring since 1978, the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA) recognizes a few schools that offer excellent instruction and outstanding leaders, augmented by strong family and community involvement, and a supportive business community. Initially presented only to two elementary schools and one middle school, the award was expanded in 1996–1997 to include a high school.

The selection process includes a comprehensive review of a school’s program, focusing on the key question: “What impact is this school making on the lives of students and the community, and is it deserving of the Palmetto’s Finest Award?”

River Bluff is the educational home for more than 2,000 ninth- through twelfth-graders.

It offers students a modern approach to classroom learning through the use of modular scheduling that allows students to create schedules with instructional periods of varying sizes mixed with independent learning time and to see personal achievement thrive, through character, leadership and growth mindset — all while contributing to both a local and global society. 

RBHS helps students stay accountable in the classroom and for their own work. It was the first high school in South Carolina to adopt a teaching and learning model called EL Education, which focuses on engaging students with weekly small-group meetings.
