Graduation changes  - Created 06-03-2021

On Friday, May 28, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided some interim public health recommendations for fully vaccinated people. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html

That guidance stated that if an individual is fully vaccinated, that person can attend “a crowded, outdoor event, like a live performance, parade, or sports event” without a mask.

For that reason, Lexington District One will adjust its masking requirements for its five graduations to allow fully vaccinated individuals (This includes fully vaccinated graduates.) to attend without wearing masks.

Graduates not fully vaccinated and wearing masks can still remove their masks before crossing the stage as they graduate. The school’s photographer will take a photograph of each graduate while on the stage.

The district asks that once you enter the stadium, your graduate’s six guests sit in one markedoff section of the “family pods.”

By marking these six-seat family pods and spreading them out throughout the bleachers, we can create a physical distance of about six feet between the groups as recommended by the CDC for large events.

We ask that you stay at least six feet away from people who are not members of your pod and suggest that you limit your physical contact with them (handshakes, etc.).

We also remind you again that you may bring a clear water bottle with you to graduation since our graduation is happening in June. We just ask that you also take it out with you when you leave.

Our primary goal remains keeping our staff, students, and their families as safe as possible while celebrating our graduates’ accomplishments.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
