    HELLO GES FAMILIES!
Good afternoon SCOUT families, thank you for all of your efforts at home and in our community to help recover from the storm last Friday. Our hearts continue to be those who are waiting on power to be restored. Here are some important updates for this week at GES….

    • Parent teacher conferences are underway, be sure to sign up today if you haven’t already!
    • PTO Change War - which costume will Mr. Deyo have to wear this year? There will be 3 change buckets with costume choices in the lobby every day this month.
    • 3rd Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest Time - more details in the ParentSquare message
    • South Carolina Metric Week is this week - check out the ParentSquare message for a fun and easy way to look at metric measurements at home
    • Laces4Love free pair of shoes opportunity - Due no later than Friday, October 11, 2024
    • Gilbert Elementary School Coat Drive Needs Survey - Due no later than Monday, October 21, 2024
    • Gilbert Elementary School Holiday Needs Survey - Due no later than Monday, October 21, 2024 - First come, first serve, basis - space is extremely limited
    • October 8,9,10th - CogAT testing for grades 2 and 4
    • Our two words for this week are EXCEPTIONAL and OPTIMISTIC. The word EXCEPTIONAL means unusually good, or outstanding. OPTIMISTIC means someone who is hopeful and confident about the future. We encourage students to use these words in conversation, look for them in books, and we've challenged them to teach you about them and discover other ways they may be used or found in everyday life.
    • Due to the days out of school we had to change our Hispanic Heritage Parade to Friday, October 18th at 1:30. This is always an entertaining event and way to share information about Hispanic cultures.
    • PTO Fundraiser is postponed until November 1st - more details in the ParentSquare message
