Bishton graduated from University of Cape Town, in Cape Town, South Africa, with a bachelor’s degree in primary education in 1988. In 2007, he graduated from Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C., with a Master of Education in instructional accommodations. He received an educational specialist degree in educational administration from Capella University in 2011. A member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, Bishton was named the S.C. Music Educators Administrator of the Year.
Mr. Sean Bishton
At their March 21 board meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Sean Bishton as the new principal of Pelion High, effective July 1, 2023. Bishton served as the principal of Muller Road Middle School in Richland School District Two. In 2007, Bishton joined Richland Two to serve as a curriculum effectiveness specialist, collaborating with lead teachers and faculty to develop and implement curriculum to improve student academic achievement. He also served as an assistant principal before being promoted to principal. During his time as principal, MRMS was named a Schools to watch in 2019 and 2022, as well as an AVID School Site of Distinction.

Mr. Gooding earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Newberry College and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. He holds certifications in physical education, secondary administration and secondary supervision.
Mr. Tracy Gooding
Tracy began his educational career in 2000 as a physical education teacher and junior varsity football coach at Lexington High. In 2002, he moved to Barnwell High in Barnwell School District 45 to teach physical education and coach varsity football and junior varsity baseball. In 2004, he returned to Lexington One as a physical education teacher and varsity football and wrestling coach at Gilbert High.
This is Mr. Gooding’s third year as an administrator and his third year as a Pelion Panther. He enjoys working with the students and staff and is looking forward to a successful school year!
