Policies & Procedures for Book Check Out

  • OGE School Library Policies and Procedures

4K students come to the Library once each week for story time, songs, etc.  They do not check out library books.

Kindergarten students visit the Library once each week for story time, lessons, songs, and book check out.  They check out one book and keep it for one week.   If a student does not return their library book the next week, they are not able to check out an additional book until that one is returned.  They are given a book to look at and read while their classmates check out books.

1st and 2nd grade students visit the Library once each week for story time, lessons, and book check out.  They check out two books and keep them for one week. If a student returns only one of their books, they are able to check out only one more book.  If they do not return either of their books, they are given a book to look at and read while their classmates check out books. If a student has a library book that is more than one month overdue, that student will not be able to check out ANY books until the overdue book is returned.

3rd – 5th grade students visit the Library every other week with their class for book check out.  With teacher permission, they can come to the Library at other times during the week to exchange books as needed.  These students are able to check out two books at a time. Students may renew their books as needed, but they must bring the book to the library to renew it.  If a student has a library book that is more than one month overdue, that student will not be able to check out ANY books until the overdue book is returned.

For ALL students: Overdue and lost/damaged book notices are sent home periodically by email throughout the school year.  Students with lost or damaged library books may not be able to check out books until the lost or damaged book has been paid for in the Library.

Late Fines: We do not charge fines for overdue library books.

Damaged/Lost Book Fees: For damaged or lost library books, a fee is charged for the current replacement cost of the book. For damages such as ripped covers, torn pages, library stickers that have been removed, etc. a nominal fee may be charged to repair the book.
