Student Council is a honors club facilitated by Holley Matthews and Iris Escalante Garcia at Pelion Middle School. It seeks to provide a valuable leadership partnership between our students and our school by creating opportunities for students to become effective leaders, thus encouraging and influencing a positive school climate. Examples include field trips, attending conferences and coordinating visits with leaders.
Student Council Activities & Events
In 2011, Student Council went to Washington D.C. with other honors groups and visited the Smithsonian, Capitol, White House, and several national monuments. Congressman Joe Wilson visited Pelion Middle School on April 17th, 2015. Council members conduct food drives and raised money to assist struggling families in our community, as well as reach out to veterans overseas. Facilitators integrate leadership training and include parents and the community.
Leslie Hamby received a national award for her Student Council work in 2015.
