Second Semester
Hello, This is Mr. Pool, Principal at Lexington High School!I know you have received a lot of messages from me over the past couple of weeks so I apologize for the information overload! With all that's going on, it is easy to get confused so I'm trying to provide some clear instructions. Hopefully, it's working. All of our messages are also available on our school's website if you need to look back from previously shared information.- This Friday, January 15, is a virtual half day for students. Teachers will be available via zoom or email for students in the morning as we close out the semester, but students should not report to campus unless they have scheduled a makeup exam or appointment with a teacher. The students will not have virtual classes or help sessions in the afternoon. Our teachers will be finalizing grades and working to close out the semester.
- Monday, January 18 is a holiday. A-Cohort students report for face to face class on Tuesday, January 19 but only for one day and the rest of their week will be virtual. B-Cohort students will be virtual on Tuesday, January 19 and will report to classes on Wednesday and Thursday, january 20 and 21. Friday, January 22 will be a virtual day for all of our hybrid students.
- Students and parents can now view their second semester classes in PowerSchool. Please check before you report next week so you know where to go when you arrive. We will have staff available to help students who need assistance.
- LOOLA students will also start their second semester classes on Tuesday, January 19. All LOOLA students should be able to access introductory information for their courses through Schoology. Through Schoology, teachers will provide information about their classes and hold zoom meetings next week to meet with their students. Information about LOOLA is available on our website under the "Parents and Students" tab. Also look for communication from Howard Bissell coming this week with orientation material for LOOLA.
- Welcome New Students or New Hybrid Students: If you are a new student or new to the Hybrid model, we will have lots of information to share with you during your Empower class about LHS and all of our teachers spend their first days teaching routines and procedures for success. We also want to share our Wildcat Welcome site with you. On this site, you can explore our interactive map, meet the teachers, review modules about clubs, student services, and more! We are excited to welcome you to campus this semester.
- Family Connections: Check out these great resources for students and parents. Schoology and Powerschool information, Important phone numbers, Safety protocols, and more!
- It's been a great first semester. We plan to send home report cards on January 25, but grades will be viewable on PowerSchool no later than January 19. If you have questions about a course grade, please contact the teacher through email or phone. We are very proud of our students!
Please let us know if you have questions or need assistance!Go Wildcats! -
Welcome Back Wildcats!
Hello! This is Ryan Pool, principal at Lexington High School, with some important information for the coming week.Next week our underclassmen will close out the semester with final exams. I have included the daily exam schedule and bell schedule in this message. For our online students, it is very important that you report to school next week if you need to take an End of Course exam for Algebra 1, Biology, English 2, or U.S. History. You should have received emailed instructions for participation in these exams. If you need further information, please contact us at 821-3400 next week. This year, exam grades will be applied to final course grades if they benefit the student. This is a great way to get a final boost in your grades, so we want everyone to set goals and work hard to do their best on all of their exams. Throughout the week, to secure our testing environment, we are asking that students only sign in or out during natural breaks in the schedule. We can't call into testing rooms to dismiss students before the bell or delay exams for students coming late. There will be make-up opportunities for students who have an excused absence.Students are not allowed to sign in and out during the Empower/Lunch block unless they are leaving for the day. We are not an open campus and we want to minimize student movement in and out of our building to maximize student safety.Next week, there will be construction on the breezeway between Lexington High and the Technology Center to install access ramps. The middle portion where vehicles pass under the breezeway will be closed off for traffic. Cars can park or drop off at the front of the school or drive behind the Technology Center past the stadium. This work should be completed before the end of the week.Next week is your LAST CHANCE for YEARBOOK PORTRAITS! Legacy Studios will be on campus Tuesday, January 12, and Wednesday, January 13. Senior and Virtual students can take their portraits from 9:00 a.m. - 11:20 a.m. Ms. Dotterer sent out links to sign up for an appointment. Cohort A/B students can take their photos during Empower on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have any questions please email or call Mrs. Dotterer.Students should have received their second-semester schedule in the mail before the winter break. We will also print schedules for all students on the first days of the semester to pick up in their first class. We will have lots of staff in the halls to help students get where they need to go. If there is an error on your schedule, please complete the Second Semester Schedule Change Form for your counselor to review. The form can be found on our website under the Counseling Tab and is also linked here: Second Semester Schedule Change FormAs we return to school, we are excited to see all of our Wildcats and welcome them back, whether in person or online. We want to remind everyone that in order to be together, we all need to do our part to stay safe, stay socially distanced, and follow the guidelines that will get us to the other side of this tough time.Welcome back Wildcats! We'll see you next week. Stay safe, stay connected, and stay awesome!Go Wildcats! -
Happy New Year!
This is Ryan Pool, principal at Lexington High School!
All Lexington One schools will return to school January 4-8 virtually in order to provide the safest transition possible for our students and staff.
Lexington High School students should plan to participate in their classes virtually according to the normal Monday through Thursday schedule, so zoom meetings with teachers and classmates will occur throughout the day as if they were on campus. Students are expected to report to all of their classes during our virtual week and will find information about expectations and zoom links through each teacher's Week at a Glance on Schoology. The following week, January 11-15, we will return to our hybrid schedule for final exams and End of Course exams. Our exam schedule is posted on our website and included below.
Seniors are not required to take exams if passing the course, but may choose to take an exam in an attempt to raise their grade. If seniors are not taking an exam the week of January 11-15, they do not need to report to campus.
Exams for all students will only be included in the final course grade if the exam benefits the student. We want all of our underclassmen to study and prepare for all of their exams in order to get a final boost for their grades and GPA. End of Course exams are required by our state for all students in Algebra 1, Biology, English 2, and U.S. History.
LOOLA students and parents should follow instructions from each of their teachers regarding their exam procedures and schedules.
Enjoy the remaining days of your break! We can't wait to see you!
Happy New Year and Go Wildcats!

Fall, 2020 Message
This is Mr. Pool with a couple of important items.Click HERE if you would rather listen to me talk about all this information in a short video!Linked to this message is our Virtual Open House landing page. At Virtual Open House, you can hear from our teachers and find their contact information if you need to reach them for a conference or conversation. You can also walk through a day at LHS from a student's view. There is a "Family Connections" link on the page to get PowerSchool and Schoology information that will help you stay informed, and finally, we have a link to vote for this year's School Improvement Council parent representatives.I know it's hard to believe, but we are halfway through the first nine weeks. At LHS, we don't send home a paper Interim Report. Instead, we will always try to remind you at each interim report that now is the time to go into PowerSchool, or for LOOLA students, to go into the SC Virtual grading platform if you don't normally check these sites. If you aren't sure how to check on your student's grades, check out the Family Connections page on the Open House Site, or feel free to call us at the school. For LOOLA students, information about grade reports and parent access is available on our school website under the Parents and Students tab by scrolling down to LOOLA. We definitely want all parents to check in with their students about current progress in all of their courses. There is still plenty of time to recover if the first half of the grading period hasn't gone exactly as planned. If you have questions or concerns about your student's progress, please feel free to reach out to the teacher. This Friday is set aside for teachers to be able to hold conferences with parents and students as needed based on current progress, so Friday is not a school day for students. There is no school – whether in-person or virtual – for students.Lexington High School football is back and we have our first game this Friday night at home against Ridgeview. We expect a sell-out, so get your tickets quickly. General admission tickets are available at the LHS Athletics Office Thursday from 8:00 - 4:00, and again Friday if there are any tickets left. Tickets are $7. We will be recognizing our senior athletic trainers, band members, cheerleaders, and football players at the game.Congratulations to our boy's swim team for winning the region, and good luck to 8 boys from the team who have qualified for state, and to three girls who have qualified to compete at the state swim meet.We hope you will visit the Lexington Wildcat Booster Club website, https://lexingtonwildcats.com/photos, to view action photos taken by Mr. Larry James. He does a great job capturing details of each along with the passion that our student-athletes have. Have a great week and thanks for all you do to make our school and community great!Go Wildcats!LHS VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE
