  • The mission of the School Counseling Team at Saxe Gotha Elementary is to provide every student with a comprehensive, developmental counseling program as outlined by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). Our program’s vision is to help every student be successful in his/her academic, career, and social-emotional development. We adhere to ASCA’s Ethical Standards. School Counselors collaborate with other school professionals, and the community, to ensure that all students are prepared to be 21st century learners and leaders.

Andrea Slice

Hello! My name is Andrea Slice, I have 26 years experience working as a School Counselor and have been at Saxe Gotha Elementary for the past 14 years. During that time, I have served as the School Counselor for all grade levels and I’m currently the 4th & 5th grade School Counselor. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Experimental Psychology and a Masters of Education degree in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina. My husband, Mark, and I have been married for 28 years. We have three children away in college and three fur babies at home! I enjoy reading, gardening, hiking in the mountains, spending time at the beach and being with family and friends.

Jane Eliza Chisholm

Hello! My name is Jane Eliza and this is my fourth year working at Saxe Gotha. I'm the School Counselor for Pre-School, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade and I LOVE working with these students. I grew up in Savannah, Georgia and moved to South Carolina to attend college. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Furman University where I studied Education with a focus in Child Advocacy. After working for a therapeutic child development center in Greenville, I moved to Columbia to attend graduate school at USC. I have an Education Specialist degree in Counselor Education (K-12 School Counseling) and am working on licensure as an LPC-A. I enjoy cooking and baking, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and spending time outside - especially on the water - with friends and family.

Deanna Thacker

Hello! I am Deanna Lee Thacker. I grew up in Barnwell, SC and moved to the Columbia area to attend USC after high school. I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors of Science in 2006. I worked as a Manager in various customer service related industries for 13 years prior to receiving my Master’s of Education in School Counseling. This will be my third year as a School Counselor, and I am passionate about my job.

My husband, Josh and I have been married for 14 years. We have two incredible boys that attend SGE. Preston is in Second grade and Pierson is in Pre-School. I love taking naps, shopping, vacationing, all things Disney, and snuggling on my couch with my two boys.
