Calhoun named Lexington One’s Executive Director of High Schools and Postsecondary Pathways

Casey CalhounAt their May 14 Board Meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved Casey B. Calhoun as the district’s new Executive Director of High Schools and Postsecondary Pathways. Calhoun currently serves as principal of Lakeside Middle School. The district’s current executive director of High Schools and Postsecondary Pathways, Dr. Luke Clamp, recently accepted the position of deputy superintendent with the Charleston County School District.  

“Mr. Calhoun is an experienced educational leader dedicated to student success,” said Lexington One Superintendent Dr. Gerrita Postlewait. “As a teacher at the high school level and administrator at high school and middle school levels, Mr. Calhoun brings a wealth of knowledge about creating systems to effectively address early adolescent and high school-level teaching and learning that prepare students for college, career or military.”

Calhoun began his teaching career in 2005 at Palmetto High School in Williamston, S.C. He then joined the Lexington One family in 2008, teaching and coaching at Gilbert High School. Calhoun was promoted to assistant administrator at GHS in 2011, and then again to assistant principal in 2014. In 2017, he joined the administrative team at River Bluff High School as the assistant principal/academic dean of innovation. Calhoun was promoted to principal of the former Lexington Middle School in January 2019. In 2022, Calhoun was named the first principal of Lakeside Middle School and led the opening of the brand new school. 

Calhoun earned a Bachelor of Arts in education and political science from the University of South Carolina Aiken and a Master of Education in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina. He holds certifications in secondary social studies and secondary administration. He is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum.
