• Lexington One serves all qualified academically gifted and talented students in the E.A.G.L.E. program, “Educational Activities Geared for Learning Excellence,” beginning in grade three.  The mission of gifted education is to maximize the potential of gifted and talented students by providing academic and artistic programs and services that match the unique characteristics and needs of these students.  The EAGLE program seeks to develop talent, provide depth of study, set an appropriate pace for instruction, integrate complexity into the curriculum and show students how to deal with issues of significance.  Identified gifted students spend a specific amount of instructional time each week with an EAGLE teacher.  These high ability students are actively engaged in an accelerated and enriched curriculum.

I am so excited to be working with the EAGLE Program again this year. I am entering my 26th year of teaching, and this year I will be working with 3rd and 4th grade EAGLE students. I attended the University of South Carolina where I received my undergraduate as well as my graduate degree. Go Gamecocks! I also have the gifted and talented endorsement. I am married and I have 2 boys, a sophmore at USC and a tenth grader at River Bluff. My hobbies include reading, walking, attending Gamecock sporting events, and going to the beach. I am looking forward to a wonderful year at Midway.

This year I begin my 21st year as a teacher and my 13th year at Midway.  I am one of our two EAGLE teachers.  I love working with different students each day in creative and collaborative ways. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Dave, who works in Columbia, and my two boys. They love to play outside and make big messes, but they are both super sweet and enjoy doing things with our family. I'm excited for another great year with my MES family!
