During its meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Tiffany R. Miller to assistant principal of Forts Pond Elementary School and Kelly R. Smoak to assistant principal of Gilbert Middle School.

During its meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Brandon H. Gantt, ED.D., as employee development coordinator beginning July 1.

During its meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Richelle M. Battles to professional learning coordinator, replacing Natalie Osborne, ED.D., who was promoted to leadership development and continuous improvement director.

06-23-2021 | Smith becomes River Bluff High’s principal
During its meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Jacob N. Smith III to principal of River Bluff High School. Smith replaces Luke Clamp, ED.D, who becomes the district’s secondary schools director on July 1. A 19-year educator, Smith has served as assistant principal of RBHS since 2013.

06-23-2021 | District promotes Whisennant to White Knoll Elementary principal
During its meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the promotion of M. Elizabeth Whisennant to principal of White Knoll Elementary School. She replaces Nicole Mitchell who was promoted to district elementary schools director. Whisennant, a 15-year educator, currently serves as assistant principal of Lexington Middle School.

06-23-2021 | Board approves budget increase for transportation construction project
During its meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees accepted the administration’s recommendation to increase the budget for the construction of a new transportation facility by $6.5 million. The district will use bond premium and interest earnings on the 2018 Bond Referendum sales to cover the additional scope of the transportation construction project.

06-08-2021 | Lexington District One readies for five graduations
— Lexington County School District One honors 1,770 graduates this week (Tuesday, June 8, through Saturday, June 12). The district’s goal is to have the most authentic graduation ceremonies possible while working hard to keep everyone safe. Schools will protect graduates, their six guests, and staff at all times while they are on campus through strict adherence to social distancing guidelines.

On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Megan M. Moore as the district’s communications director. With 11 years of communications and marketing experience, Moore spent most of her career working in public K–12 education.

06-04-2021 | Educational Foundation presented the 2021 Administrator of the Year Award
On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, the Lexington One Educational Foundation presented the 2021 Joseph M. Bedenbaugh Administrator of the Year Award to Mrs. Debbie R. Poole at the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees meeting. Established by the Foundation in 2005, this foundation award recognizes an outstanding and deserving administrator in the district, while also honoring an esteemed administrator from the original Lexington School District One staff of 1952, the late Mr. Joseph M. Bedenbaugh.

06-04-2021 | Pelion area elementary schools offer no-cost dinners to some students
For the 2021–2022 school year, Lexington County School District One students who participate in afterschool programs housed at Pelion Elementary and Forts Pond Elementary can receive a no-cost dinner thanks to the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The Supper Program is a federal nutrition program sponsored by USDA and offered through the S.C. Department of Social Services.

05-25-2021 | District offers no-cost, summer food program for children
Beginning June 17, 2021, Lexington County School District One will provide meals at no cost to all children 18 and under, as well as individuals with disabilities up to 21 years old.
