WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ATTENDING A LEXINGTON DISTRICT ONE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM?
-
Certified Teacher
Certified early childhood teachers lead all Lexington One preschool classes. An instructional assistant also works in each classroom. Our teachers participate in high-quality professional development to learn the best practices in early childhood education.
-
Play-based Curriculum That Complements 5-year-old Kindergarten
Play is an important part of the preschool day. Our classes combine play with instruction to prepare students for life and school. We use play to facilitate many areas of learning including language development and social and emotional skills. Our programs use similar instructional methods that are used in kindergarten classes in Lexington District One to promote a smooth transition to kindergarten.
-
Instruction Aligned with the State Standards
Our teachers follow the South Carolina standards for preschool to ensure equity across preschool programs. These standards help to ensure all South Carolina preschool children build the foundational skills they need to be successful in school.
-
School Environment
Since our preschool programs are located in elementary schools, children become familiar with the school environment that they likely will experience in kindergarten and beyond.
